What is it?

As we age, the gum tissue along the gum-line can begin to recede leading to exposed root structure. Pinhole gum surgery is an advanced technique for treating this problem that is incision, grafting and suture free. Through pinhole surgery we use tools to loosen and expand existing gum tissue to cover root structure. This minimally invasive procedure lets you return to normal activities within a day.

Is Gum Recession harmful?

When gum recession occurs, “pockets,” or gaps, form between the teeth and gum line, making it easy for disease-causing bacteria to build up. If left untreated, the supporting tissue and bone structures of the teeth can be severely damaged, and may ultimately result in tooth loss.

Why should I try Pinhole Gum Surgery?

Traditionally, gum recession is treated using a connective tissue graft, which “harvests” gum tissue from the roof of your mouth and then sutures it to the affected area. Gum grafts have a recovery period of up to three weeks and many patients experience side effects that include: gum pain, swelling, and bleeding. With Pinhole Surgery, there is no cutting, stitches or grafts. We make a small pinhole sized incision and reposition your existing gum tissue to cover the exposed tooth root. You are back to your regular routine within one to two days.
