Night/Mouth Guards
There are three main types of mouthguard.
Mouth Guard for Grinding
Commonly known as nightguards, these dental appliances help protect your teeth from the effects of grinding and clenching. We assess clients for common oral problems like jaw tightness, grinding and clenching. We often recommend nightguards to preserve your teeth. A custom-made nightguard is designed to fit comfortably over your teeth while you sleep.
Mouth Guard for Sleep Apnea
For many patients with sleep-breathing disorders, a dental appliance is a comfortable CPAP alternative, and many find an oral appliance easier to tolerate than CPAP. Dr. Stringham will assess your sleep needs and then take an impression of your teeth to have your custom oral appliance created. This type of appliance shifts and repositions your jaw to open your airway during sleep. You’ll be on your way to a great nights sleep in no time.
Mouth Guard for Sports
We recommend a properly fitted sports mouthguard to absorb the shock of impacts and protect your smile against potential damage. For people wearing braces or other fixed orthodontic appliances it is especially important to have a sports mouthguard that fits them properly. If you play sports like boxing, wrestling, soccer, basketball, hockey or football, mouth guards can greatly reduce your risk for chipped or knocked out teeth.
